The Role of Omani Universities in Social Responsibility and Psychological Empowerment of Students with Disabilities: University of Nizwa as a Sample

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the role of Omani universities in social responsibility and psychological empowerment among students with disabilities and to identify statistically significant differences according to the type of disability. The study population consisted of 38 students with disabilities. A convenience sample of 24 students with visual and hearing disabilities was selected, comprising 14 students with hearing disabilities and 10 students with visual disabilities. A qualitative methodology was adopted, using semi-structured interviews as a data collection tool, which was deemed suitable for the target sample. The validity and reliability of the instrument were verified. The results showed that the level of university contribution in social responsibility among students with disabilities was moderate. The results also showed that the level of university contribution in improving the psychological empowerment of students with disabilities was moderate. Moreover, the results indicated no statistically significant differences in social responsibility and psychological empowerment levels due to the type of disability. (156 words)
